What Happened at the Previous Indian Wells Open?

Taylor Fritz shocked an in-form Rafael Nadal in the men’s singles final of the 2022 Indian Wells Open while Iga Swiatek won the women’s singles title by defeating Maria Sakkari in the final.

Fritz had won just one ATP title coming into the tournament and defeated Andrey Rublev in straight sets in the semifinal before stalling Nadal’s 20-match winning streak. He carved out a 6-3, 7-6 (5) victory.

Swiatek, who herself would kick-start a 38-match winning streak in 2022, routed the Greek number one Sakkari 6-4, 6-1. She had earlier gotten the better of Simona Halep and Madison Keys with much ease too.
